just an easy to use FREE converter for .flac to mp3 to use on my ipod

Many free audio encoders and general media converters will do this.

Eg, Foobar2000
load the FLAC file(s)
right-click, select "convert/convert to" and choose the preset" -- eg "MP3 LAME 190KBS. V2 fast"
-- you can create new presets by clicking "more settings" if the defaults aren't what you want.

Anyone ever use Tucows.com? I used to get Freeware from there or Trialware. They have a lot of different programs to choose from.

and get tools that have been reviewed by members.

Tucows has everything, but it's hard to separate the crap from the non-crap.
