Does the Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 do 60fps?

I'm using a trial version of the software and don't see 60fps anywhere.

Probably require a custom template if "10 HD" allows custom templates.

I suggest you at least get Vegas 10 Platinum.

Currently mine is in a render. I know it does 1280x720p 59.94 fps. I'll check to see if it allows a 1920x1080p 59.94 fps custom template later this evening. No problem for Vegas 10 Pro.

If your project is 60 frames, then the timeline will be 60 frames too, and it's gonna jigger whatever mixed bag is on the timeline to 60 frames.

When I start a new project (File > New project), all the settings are 29.970 fps or 23.976 fps. None of the settings are 60 fps.
When starting a new project, there is a setting called "Match media settings" and it allows you to browse for a file. I selected the 60 fps file for it to match but it shows 29.970 fps in the description for this setting:

Use the Browse button to match your project settings to a media file on your hard drive.
    Video: 1280x720, 29.970 fps progressive.

These fractional framerates are for old tube tvs that are governed by the electrical cycles per second. They're in Vegas for backwards compatibility.

As active now as ever for ATSC and Blu-ray.

Vegas 10 Platinum does not have 1920x1080 60p (59.94p) project settings and lacks custom project templates. For that you need to upgrade to Vegas Pro.

The only possible out is "match media settings" mode. To test that, I'd need to generate a test 1920x1080 60p file in Vegas Pro. Not my top priority tonight.

Even if that did work, Vegas 10 Platinum does not support 1920x1080 59.94p custom output settings. Vegas 10 Pro does. Menus shown are Platinum.

I was wrong about Platinum. Max is 29.97 fps for 1280x720p and then only in an HDV project. You need Pro to do 59.94 fps.

By contrast, Vegas 10 Pro allows 50 or 59.94 fps at arbitrary resolution for project or "Render as" export.

FYI, it also supports these 3D project settings.

    Thanks edDV.

Wonder why they would even bother making a consumer level camcorder (pocket camcorder) that records 60 fps but consumer level software don't support it.

Because digital cameras are natively progressive and 29.97p produces jerky video.

Open your project properties, and manually type in 30 or 60 fps, tick the "Start all projects...", and your timeline will be 30 or 60p. The drop down choices are not mandatory, you can set the framerate to whatever you want.

DON'T USE the New Project Wizard. When you open Vegas you're automatically in a new project specified by your project settings.

Fer example, I always use 720p60 as a default project because that's the most versatile (for me). And then I can always render out to whatever for whoever. IOW, my working timeline is always the same, no matter the source or output.

The main consideration in choosing a "working" project setting is that it's not going to degrade the content due to downsampling. You want your "canvas" to be bigger than your work.

DISCLAIMER: I 'm not in a strict environment like many editors. Most of my work is compositing. But as a pro working for a TV station my advice is ridiculous.

Looks like it works plus the Custom Template Save works although you have to select it from Project Properties, not from New Project.

    Project Properties window is here.

    Save Custom Template

The custom template then shows in the project format selections.

Then if you want you can set current template to be the default for New Project.

Thanks for all the help and going through all the trouble to create a screen capture. I really appreciate it.
