I had a mishap with my Canon Vixia HFM31 and the USB port no longer functions. Is there an alternative method to transfer videos from the camera to my Mac? Any way it can be done with the HDMI cable?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

maybe. get a sd flash card for the cam. insert and copy the files off the internal flash to the card. remove card and use a card reader with the mac.
hdmi is for playback to a tv. possible to get a capture card for hdmi, but not easy or cheap.--
