Could someone recommend a good undelete software? Everything I tried so far has failed to recover files even immediately after deleting.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

dylz please don't link to warez.
kyrcy look at getdataback. It costs $79 US for ntfs and $69 US for fat. They have a free demo
Free to try Download the trial version and recover your files. You can preview your data to be sure it actually works. If you like the results you do not need run the program again. Purchase the license key and enter it into the open program. Then copy everything you need!
It works quite well. If the free software isn't doing what you need it to then consider purchasing this.Donadagohvi (Cherokee for "Until we meet again") -
Simple files can often be recovered with recuva .
Software ( applications ) often modify the operating system ( make/modify registery entries -- create directories and sometimes no doubt make other changes inside the system ) when they are installed . These changes have to be undone when the software is un-installed correctly . This is not the same as simply adding or removing a few files . A clean " un-install " would require a clean " new install " to return to the previous state . -
Testdisk ... grab the windows zip ... unpack and run testdisk_win.exe and follow the windows prompts ... at anytime you want to back out simply choose quit more than once till the program itself closes.
And read the user guide on their site ... it'll help you understand where and what you should be doing in each step.
Linux and mac also covered ... you have no computer specs listed.
