    Hello,

I need some serious help with a XP pc i just reinstalled XP with. I now get a system32\DRIVERS\pci.sys black screen when I try to reboot. I put the cd back in and used the recovery area typed in chkdsk and hit enter. It says it is fine.... but i still can't get past this error. It won't let me go into safe mode. What else can I try.

  2. i would re-format the hard drive and try again. but it sounds like winXP doesn't have a usable driver for whatever motherboard you are using. the m.b. may be too new for the out of date winXP.
