    Did you make a DVD-compliant disc? (That is, does the file structure look something like you see here: https://www.videohelp.com/dvd#struct ?)

    All l know is l made it on my laptop and l can't play it on my tv/dvd player

    @villavillain: Most likely, you did not make a playable disc, because you don't have the slightest idea what you're doing. Your laptop can play video data files that are burned to disc, but your standalone DVD unit requires the disc to be authored within certain parameters.

    If you made your DVD on the laptop, surely there is some sort of software that you made it with. It would help us to know what it was. It would also be helpful to know what sort of video file your source is.
