I have the 2010-11-15 ffdshow installed with default settings. AAC and H264 are enabled for ffdshow to handle them.

I was able to use MP4Cam2AVI v2.83 to convert the iPhone 4 1280x720 .MOV file to .AVI and it opened in VirtualDub. The video works perfect, I can step through each frame.

The problem is the AAC. I get an error that VirtualDub doesn't recognize the audio code "00FF".

But I can run the Windows XP default mplayer2.exe and open my converted .AVI and it plays perfect both audio and video, and I get the A & V tray icons that indicate ffdshow is handling both Audio & Video.

So why doesnt the audio work in VirtualDub? Is VirtualDub somehow inherently compatible with AAC? Am I missing something?

    Thanks for your time.

EDIT: Solved my own problem! I set MP4Cam2AVI to convert audio to MP3 and things work great now!

Or you could try the directshow or quicktime/mov plugin from http://forums.virtualdub.org/index.php?act=ST&f=7&t=12664 .
    Or edit with avidemux.
