Trying to reinstall AvsEdit 1.1.1.3 on an new machine, I get 'please install .NET framework 1.1 first'. OS is XP Sp3, the machine has .NET 4.0, and up to now I thought those frameworks were cumulative. Do I need to install 1.1 after all? Help most appreciated.

The .net frameworks are separate, not cumulative like a service pack. You will have to install 1.1 as well as 4.0, and other levels if they are required.

If you haven't already, try AvsPmod.

Thanks both of you for your help.
@ guns1inger: installing 1.1 did it.I seem to remember however, that in the former version the preview function was easier to work with and showed the frame #. Anything I overlooked?

@ alanHK: I unpacked AvsPmod, but it simply does nothing.
Error Traceback (most recent call last):
    File "run.py", line 1, in <module>
    import os, sys
    ImportError: No module named os

    What is missing?

    Thank you again

To install, you simply unzip the file and then run "AvsPMod.exe" (or create a shortcut for that and put it on your Start menu.).

You should have a main folder (AvsPMod, or whatever you want to call it), and 4 subfolders:
    help
    lib
    macros
    src
    tools

In particular, that error means it can't find files in "lib".
    Code:
    Directory of P:\AvsPmod\lib

So did you create the folders, or extract all files to the same folder?

Stupid me unzipped everything to the same dir.
At the same time this answered my 2nd question, as I got back the preview function with frame count.
    Thank you.
