I've noticed some huge swings in people's approaches to net tech lately- mostly moving to phones and losing some interest in building their own (tho that might've changed if laptops had standardized).
Chrome browser is superfast and has few rough edges, and doesn't take up excess virtual estate. Chrome the OS is a different beast, I'd say... it needs to play the latest stuff, get along with office & proprietary software, and will surely be targeted by the Malwarians.
Its getting closer, and I started wondering what computer I'd try it on... and drew a blank. That surprised me, but then I've started thinking of my computers more like appliances than fast cars- they should just work reliably and pretty much forever.
Here's a dl source and short review of the Chrome OS beta 8 & change:

Here is the latest release candidate (0.95) on a Live CD format:

What machine would you try it on, and why?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

I have all my boot drives in removable drive bays so I may try it on an old small drive sometime.
Bare SATA drives just slide into the bay. Like this:

I probably won't try it. I'm not very excited about cloud computing. I want most things to reside on my own computer, not somewhere else.
It might appeal to my sister. She hates dealing with security software and only uses a computer for playing a few simple games, web-browsing, email, and MS Office. -
I'm a slow adopter, I like to let other users be the testers and experimenters first. This is all going to hinge on, what applications can it run? How much fiddling with the os is it going to require to do a simple task? Basic things I take for granted because I currently don't have to think about them in detail.
