I have had exactly the same problem under Vista 64. When I upgraded to Windows 7 it worked flawlessly. I think it was probably a corrupted file or dll somewhere which was put right during the upgrade.
Try ccleaner to fix any issue with the registery, get rid of all of the unused files and disable any startup programs, uninstall dvdate, reboot and reinstall a fresh copy of dvdate.
You may try right click on dvdate shortcut and run as admin.
Also, remove any video codecs package you may have installed earlier -
I have the same problem. DVDate says the file seems not to be a correct avi file. I captured the DV AVI with Windows Live Essentials and tried to open it with Magix Video Deluxe MX but it doesnt open the whole scene, but just a part of it. I was suggested to Change the file from DV-AVI Type 1 to Type 2, but i cant do it bc i cant open it with DVDate. Is that an Win 7 x64bit issue?
