  1. Just realized that many of video converters which uses FFMPeg as a backbone generates weird Audo/video Codec IDs rather than standards ones, while trying to convert same video clip VOB+DD5.1 using various video converters to compare quality. As results video players fails to play audio or plays it with noisy-hiss.

    VOB audio codec Id# for AC3 DD5.1
    Audio
    ID : 128 (0x80)
    -or-
    ID : 129 (0x81)

    FFMPeg generated output:
    Audio
ID : 000000-1111111111-0101001010 (something like that).
(Also results poor video quality for same bit-rates - artifacts / pixlates)

Somehow some video converters like WinAVI, TVC and couple of Freebies are not affected and generates proper codec's IDs

    addition:
Follwing are the tags easy recognized by most video players

1025 0x401 Intel Music Coder (IMC)
    117 0x75 VoxWare MetaSound
    26447 0x674f Ogg Vorbis Codec
    26479 0x676f Vorbis Ogg ACM Codec 1.0
26481 0x6771 Ogg Vorbis MSACM Codec
    304 0x130 ACELP.net Audio Codec
    353 0x161 DivX Audio Compressor
    50 0x32 MSN Audio
    69 0x45 G 726 Audio Codec
    8192 0x2000 AC3 filter
    85 0x55 MPEG-1 Layer 3 Codec

While inspecting inner properties of audio track, many video converters fake AC3.
This is just for information, so easy to decide what to use.
