Recently i bought a Vado HD. I could transfer files into Mac Book Pro directly by copying. When i try to import the Vado HD file into FCP then the file is not seen in the preview and it says NO CODEC found. How do i edit Vado HD files in FCP and get a best quality output from the edited version. Pls help. Thanks in adavance.

    regards,

Instead of copying files, have you tried to let FCP import (File > Log and Capture) the footage directly from the camera?

You should be using the included Vado Central software to encode to MP4, which then unfortunately*
can be imported and then transcoded again into DV Stream for FCP.

    From website:
    Vado Central
Vado Central is a simple, easy-to-use video editing software that lets you
    • preview video clips.
    • transfer files to your Mac.
    • convert videos to MP4 format for use in iMovie®.
    • edit videos via iMovie, or using built-in Movie Creator software.
    • upload videos/photos to various social media sites.
This camera was built around iMovie 09, which likes MP4 files. Either use that
( *to avoid the quality hit you'll get importing into FCP)
or use the Vado Central software to try and export it (if possible) to
DV Stream, which FCP favors for editing.
