Last week I won a Panasonic NV-HS1000 S-VHS VCR (instructions dated 10/1994). It is a solid machine with TBC, sharpness slider and AI (tape optimiser) select. It is a hefty deck at 7.4 Kg and works very well. RRP in 1995 was 1000 Pounds.
The few tapes I have tried play back very well with minimal chroma shift and ringing - so it will be in my 'restoration' rack.
I did have one of these before but it was nearly worn out so I never did get on with it (HiFi heads worn away). This one is as new and plays as such.
So, anybody own it - and if so what have you found out? What tapes does it work best with and is there anything I should avoid putting through it? Hints and tips welcome!
It is not in the buying guide here - has it been missed or left out on purpose?
Thanks, Ian

For your interest I added a video taken with this VCR. It really is very good I think with no ringing and stable playback even on this worn tape from 1990.
