  1. Hi all I'm new to the forum so be gentle! :P Anyway I'm a complete audio noob

My main computer is a laptop which doesn't really move so its connected too some Logitech Z-4's (2.1) I also have my xbox 360 connected to a moniter which is also connected to the Z-4's but I have too keep unpluging the 3.5mm audio cable and pluging it into which ever device I want too use, which as you can imagine is getting annoying. I was thinking about getting a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi USB sound card connecting that to the laptop and Z-4's and using the Line In on the card to get sound from the xbox, now my question is would that work? Would there be any loss in sound quality? Or is there a better solution, I'm on a tight budget so £70 is probably my limited.

I hope that makes sense and thank you very much in advance for any help you can give me!

    AXGTi,

If all you really want to do is share the speakers with both the laptop and 360, just get a splitter. Very low cost and easy to do. Not sure what you have available over there but here's something for you to take a look at:

Hi thank you for you're reply, I could do that but I also use headphone around half the time as well so I would like to able to connect them one thing and not worry about which device I'm using. I could plug the headphones into the jack on the control on the Z-4's but they don't amp the headphone so there isn't much volume when using the xbox. It would also be nice to replace the crappy sound card in my laptop :P

Should be some three way splitters out ther. Or, even daisy chain a couple of two ways.

    - Could pick up some speakers with a headphone jack. That'll take care of an amp.
    - Pick up some headphones with a powered amp.
    - Use the splitters with an amp in the middle. Shouldn't need much of one so you should be able to find one fairly cheap.
    Have a good one,
