I am trying to embed subtitles to an mkv file using mkvmerge. I've read that it's possible to do so with this app but after appending the srt or ass subtitle with the mkv I get an error message during mux. The error message states "xxx.eng.srt' cannot be appended to the track number 1 from the file 'xxx.mkv'. The formats do not match." I am using 3.3.0 and the original srt was saved into ass using aegisub.

You just add all things, you have a video stream, and audio stream and a srt stream - just add them (don't append them) that worked when i tried it.

Turns out I didn't need to embed the srt at all. I needed to do was place the mkv file on a folder with the srt and as long as both files have the same name then the mkv file plays with the srt.
