  2. Are you talking about the slightly darker colums at the right edge? Is the first image the actual frame size (624x352)? Are you sure that isn't in your source? Or being produced by your handling before compression? For example, if there was a black border at the right edge (very common in video captures) and you ran a blur or bilinear resize filter you would get a slightly darker line if pixels at the last column before the black border.

  4. I don't think I've ever seen the Xvid codec cause that -- at least not with a mod16 frame size. It might be from a mix of codecs. Do you have any other MPEG 4 Part 2 decoders installed? Divx? ffdshow? Are you sure Xvid is decoding the video on playback? What program are you using to view the result?
