  1. 1) Will it cap 1920x1080p at 60hz?
    2) Do i need to buy anything else along with it? (splitters etc.)
    3) If it can't cap at 1920x1080p at 60hz than what can?
And yes, i know about the hd pvr.
    Is my system good enough?
Intel Pentium D CPU 3.73 ghz
    4GB RAM
    ATI radeon 4950

Depends on what you're capturing from.

Probably, for the Intensity Pro. Probably not, for the DeckLink. Check with BlackMagic.

Explain what you are trying to do. What source is 1080p at 60 fps?

Do you understand that uncompressed 1920x1080 60p capture results in file sizes ~850GB per hour?

  4. The source is from my monitor, an ASUS LS246H. I'm using this for my PS3. If I've made a mistake, please let me now because my older screen the samsung P2370HD always had a notification that pops up with the resolution and hz and I assume my new monitor has this as well. I don't require my recordings for a long period of time as I use them for proof of gamebattle.com wins. Thanks on your help thus far

  5. You're capturing from your monitor, you're capturing from the PS3. You'll set the PS3 to one of the resolutions the BMIP can capture (1080i30, 720p60, etc.) then play the game as it's being captured, watching on your monitor.

  6. So can I cap while still playing on 1920x1080p 60hz?

Your monitor won't do 1920x1080i so the best you can do is 1280x720p/60 to the BM Intensity or HD-PVR and still view it on that monitor.

No, he'll see the image after it's been captured by the computer. It will appear progressive on the monitor. Just like any application capturing standard definition interlaced video. I don't know if BlackMagic app will deinterlace on the fly or not.

Unless he plans to split the signal, one to BMIP, the other to the monitor. Does the BMIP output act as a passthrough or is only for playback?

  9. I just plan on using this to for my PS3 if this helps clarify splitting signals etc...

    Normal hookup would be

PS3-HDMI---->HDMI-1 BM Intensity HDMI-2-------->DVI-D Acer Monitor

This assumes no HDCP blocks from PS3. This would happen playing a Blu-Ray disc.

This would only work for 720p and 480p

If you used an LCD-TV instead, you could run 1080i

  11. I only planned on using this for recording game footage, and i can't play on 720p anymore so there goes that alternative. Thanks for your help

That will require two monitors. One for the BMIP passthrough, one for the computer (so he can operate the capture software). If the monitor is connected to the computer's graphics card he only needs one monitor and can play right on the computer (minimal lag with the BMIP).

  13. I have two monitors, but im assuming capturing in 1920x1080p at 60hz is impossible with the bmip?
This is the monitor I'm playing on.

Here are the specs for the BM Intensity Pro.
    http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/techspecs/

It will capture 1920x1080i but not 1080p.

HDCP is on at all times on the PS3. The only options are to use component or a digital HDCP stripper.

OK, so the above would work for an XBox360 playing games but not a PS3.

So gbpatriotic, that ACER computer monitor isn't going to be useful for either the BM Intensity Pro or the HD-PVR. You will need a true LCD-TV to connect analog component. The good news is prices are now down in the $175 up range for a 22" LCD-TV.

    For example

  18. You'll probably want to capture component at 720p so you don't have to worry about interlaced frames.
