Ok so this is new thread for this https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/326247-Philips-5990-need-advice-on-what-HDD-to-get

I will be getting a WD 2TB HDD and I want to fomat it to fat32 and divide it (partition) into 2 equall halves. I will be doing this with swissnife and kind of need a step by step to follow so that both parts will be formatted to fat32.

    Thanks,

Oh sorry about that. Yeah I'm on Windows XP. I already have swissnife installed. I have only used it once before and it was to format a smaller (older) hdd to fat32 and that wasn't too bad as I was only formating the whole thing to fat32 so that is why I'm asking for help.

As administrator; from the start menu, right click "my computer", left click "manage"

    "Computer Manager" will launch

    select "disk management"

muddle your way through repartioning the drive then use guiformat

    http://www.ridgecrop.demon.co.uk/index.htm?guiformat.htm

or I guess Swiss army knife (which I don't know)

Alternatively, live boot a Linux distro like Puppy and use gparted. You won't loose any data that way. Warning takes ages.
