Some MOV files off the web have ads built in that launch broswer windows. I'm running Win7 x64, IE8 with all current security patches. Is it possible for MOV files to launch anything beyond simple browser windows?
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Yes, you can have nasty things embedded in the mov. If it is able to execute your browser, it's possible to execute other things as well - especially if you don't have an OS level firewall (one that checks permissions for executables)
But "simple browser windows" is also something to be concerned about. The sites that they lead to can have various malware, trojans etc... -
Well, I decided to run Anti-malwarebytes and Spybot. So far I'm clean. Running a virus scan now. Thanks for the confirmation.
