  1. Hi all, total video newb here. I have a Samsung R10 camcorder which records to MP4 files (h264 video and aac audio I think). Anyway I use it to make a time lapse video in my car (with no audio) but unfortunately due to the windscreen mount I use I have to mount the camera upside down, so I need to rotate the video by 180 degrees but I do not want to have to transcode the video and risk losing quality. I have Sony Vegas 7.0 but I can't figure out how to do it without transcoding the video. I also have virtualdub but it won't open the MP4 file. Thankyou all.

Rotate video without transcoding? - No

  3. Are you wanting to edit the video or keep it as is ? If you're going to use vegas to edit, you have to re-encode upon export anyway with that format, so you might as well rotate it within vegas.

If keeping "as is", you can rotate it on playback with software players

Like he said. You would have to re-encode simply because each frame will now be different.

Of course you could find a way to turn your monitor upside down or even stand on your head but I would not reccommend either of those.

You don't need to recode if you invert the image during playback.
