Hi, does anyone know how to add slide show effects like still pictures and text and sepcial effects to the beginning and end of a .avi video using VirtualDub 1.9.9?
I want my video to look like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG-PKTAQvbYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG-PKTAQvbY
Thanks!
EDIT: I tried Windows Live Movie Maker to add special slide show effects and I saved that, but VirtualDub does not allow me to open .wmv files. Nor can MovieMaker open .avi files from VirtualDub.
I wish it weren't so hard to edit videos. I need at least four separate programs to make my videos:
1. Sony Picture Motion Browser to import my videos (regular import or copy and paste renders them unplayable) to my computer from the camcorder.
2. Windows Live MovieMaker to add slide show effects.
3. VirtualDub to speed up my movies to 10X speed.
4. YouTube to add music since you can't make a music CD from iTunes on a DVD+R. I burned an iTunes song to a DVD+R and the DVD wouldn't play due to .m4p protection. but the whole point of buring to a CD supposedly was to avoid the digital protection (I don't have any CD's so I used DVD instead).
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

Not that you probably couldn't find a way to do what you want, but it's going to be very difficult and time consuming. This program simply isn't meant for those kind of modifications to video files. You'd be better off using Movie Maker or something.

Thanks Alexstarfire! But I still need VirtualDub to speed up my video to 10X speed. And it won't recognize my Movie Maker .wmv saved files. nor will MovieMaker recognize my VirtualDub .avi files.
This girl does all of this so easily in her YouTube videos:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG-PKTAQvbYhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG-PKTAQvbY
She has all sorts of slide show effects to start the video and then the rapid speed up starts at 0:47. -
WMM does accept DV-AVI files! And it also can export DV-AVI files. (Look in the Other in your export options) So, as long as you've added the Cedocida DV codec for Vdub (so you can export DV-AVI), you sould be able to flip between the 2 apps.
I can't remember if you need to also convert between type 1 and 2, but there are a number of utils that can do that.Last edited by Cornucopia; 2nd Sep 2010 at 23:22. Reason: typo

Hmmmmm...methinks you are correct! I must have been trying to use the "Open Project" option from WLMM instead of "New Project". Duh! I am so new to all of this!
Thank you! -
maybe u could try creating the still photo as avi and merge AVI files with VirtualDub - have a look at
