    Hi I have this movie with WMV3 WMP v9 (VC-1 Simple/Main) as its codec but WMP version 11 which I have wont play it also tried Vlan same with that what do I need to play this movie

    Make sure WMP is set to automatically download codecs. That should allow it to download the WMV3 decoder from Microsoft. But with WMP11 installed you should already have the WMV3 decoder. Maybe your file is corrupt. What's the audio codec?

    its says in settings download codecs automatically but movie still says same wont play with-out those codecs for WMP v11

    Be sure you don't have a firewall set to block WMP. You could also install ffdshow which includes a WMV3 decoder.

    not using xp firewall also tried ffdshow still says use media player but that wont play it so stumped here

    Do you have any known good WMV files with WMV3? Try file number 15 (NiceDay.WMV) from this site:
