I have a movie in mkv file and the size is larger than 4GB which cannot be moved to HDD (FAT). I read from the forum that I can cut the original file into smaller ones, then move to to HDD and merge them. The suggestion from the forum was to use Mkvtoolnix to cut and merge the files. I installed Mkvtoolnix 2.3 for older version of mac os x10. I was able to cut the file and move them to HDD, but was unable to merge them. I am really new to this cutting/merging and was hoping that anyone can help me with the detailed instruction/step by step on what to do? Do I need to check any box in particular or set any parameter before I cut the file? How can I merge these files?
Any helps/instructions would be appreciated. Thanks!

FAT32 has a maximum allowable filesize of 4GB, so even if you do cut the file up and copy it over, you cannot merge the pieces back together again. If you want a single file you will have to re-e,cde the file (either video or audio or both) at a lowr bitrate so that it fits under the 4GB limit.
