Hey guys!
Having a bit of a problem sending an email using Outlook 2007. I can send an basic email, but I have tried to send an email with some photos attached approx 36mb and all it seems to do is sit in the outbox and not go anywhere, outlook says that it is trying to send but nothing seems to happen, I also tried making the attachments smaller but still nothing.
Try StreamFab Downloader and download from Netflix, Amazon, Youtube! Or Try DVDFab and copy Blu-rays! or rip iTunes movies!

From another forum (have no idea if it works):
Click Tools >Accounts >Mail >Properties >Advanced >untick break apart messages over 60kb
But.......
36 meg for one mesage is far too big. The chances are that the incoming mail-server will reject the message. -
Any suggestions how I could compress the images to be able to send them?
-
Don't compress them.
Add the images to a zip file and upload the zip to a file hosting service such as Rapidshare or Megaupload.
You then just send a normal email which includes the link to the file on the hosting service, which is given to you once the file has been uploaded (do not close the uploading page) and the person who receives the mail can click on the link to download the images.
There is an even more direct method by uploading the zipfile to a service such as www.yousendit.com where you have an option of entering the email address of the person you want to send the images to. The person receives an email from yousendit and can click on the link that is enclosed in that email to receive them. The only thing I have found with yousendit is that it can be a little slow to upload/download.
And you can create an account at Rapidshare and Yousendit for free. -
Dropbox is another one I like. A small client runs on your system and anything you drop in the Dropbox folder get's synced to the internet. Then you can right click the file and get it's public address to past in an email.

There is absolutely no reason to have a 36MB image.
High res JPEG photos that I email to editors are only 5MB in size. I'll attach up to 20MB to a single message.
If JPEG is not good enough, put a disc in the mail, or invest in your own web space.
Many people have started to refuse using services like yousendit, megaupload and rapidshare, because it takes too long. There is that 60-90 second wait, "server too busy" BS, and then slow downloading speeds. To "fix" this problem, they suggest you pay them lots of money. The only people really using these are "file sharers" (porn, movies, software, etc).
I've stopped helping a lot of people here lately, because they want you to download their sample videos from rapidshare, etc. Screw that.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

That's why I like Dropbox. No waits, no fee for the free level of service, which gets you 2GB of storage, and it's always been fast for me without downtime. You get a direct link to the file that you paste into your email.

Thanks for all the replys, I have actually just ried to send a text only email (5kb) and it still just sits there in the outbox.
I checked the account setting and tried the 'test account setting' which were both sucessful. -
So your topic should really read "Outlook not sending email"
I do not use Outlook. Outlook Express is much easier. And I see you are on XP so you can use that. Give it a try and come back if it still does not work. -
Your settings are wrong, then.

Try sending it in HTML format.
One benefit to usiing Outllook is most AV software will scan incoming emails, they don't scan with Express. -
i've used a bunch of a/v (norton, macafee, avast, kapersky.....) and all scan o.e. as far as i have found.

Email is NOT the right tool for this job, FTP is. That's what it's meant for.

This morning I tried to send the same email to myself and it went straight away!

The recipient's ISP can also prevent receipt of an email above a certain size. One local ISP limits emails to 2MB, including attachments.

Empty your Outbox. Do a send/receive with no outgoing, verify all is OK.
Use the Send Test Msg function. This does go out to the server and back to you.
Send yourself an E-mail with a very small attachment.
Next, send your intended recipient a test e-mail with a very small attachment. If this fails, test with some different recipients.
These tests will eliminate issues other than file size.
A 36 MB attachment is likely to be refused by either your ISP, the receiver's ISP, or simply to take so long that a problem is assumed and the process gets canceled. Failure due to large size is almost assured. Generally try to keep under 5 MB.
A very small attachment would be a text file with the word "test" in it. -
