Recorded video appears normal when viewed through viewfinder on camcorder, however when i play the VHS-C tape on a TV using a VHS player (and VHS adapter) certain scenes play in b&w, and others in noisy/distorted colour, it randomly jumps between the two for no apparent reason..

The parts that play in b&w will always play in b&w, and the parts which play in noisy colour always play in noisy colour, as if the issue is coming from the recording function on the camcorder.

I have tried recording on different tapes, and playing on different VHS players with different TV's.

Any ideas what could be causing this? just dirty tape heaps on the camcorder? Some type of compatibility issue?

Below are examples of both the b&w and noisy colour playback.

  2. Is it a PAL tape you are playing on an NTSC VCR?

The tapes are PAL, the VHS player is PAL also.
