  1. Hi Guys,

    I want to design an image in photoshop to be a background in a HD video

    What is the right size for a HD image?

    *I'm using vegas pro 9

    Depends what HD resolution you are using.

    1280 x 720 square pixel
    1920 x 1080 square pixel
    1440 x 1080 non-square pixel

    If you need to use the third one, I would suggest working in 1920 x 1080, then saving a version at this resolution, and another resized to 1440 x 1080.

    You just need to work out what resolution your video will be . . . . . . . .

    And for photos, shoot or scan higher than 1920x1080 if you can, then crop/downsize to 1920x1080 or 1440x1080. Remember to honor safe action and safe title regions in graphics and photo cropping. Best to monitor in both 16:9 and overscanned 4:3.
