Pioneer XV-DV313 DVD player & Firmware Update

Hello

A friend of mine has a Pioneer XV-DV313 DVD player and he tells me the player will only play blue dye recordable discs and not purple. I think the model year is a 2005 or 2006. Where can i get a firmware update for this model?

If anything, the laser is probably dirty and the difference in brigthness between different discs means some play on some don't. Just open it up and gently wipe the lens with a cotton swab (Qtip) dampened in alcohol (not soaked). Don't bother with cleaning discs, they don't work.
