I have a 20 minute video and there are a bunch of times when I need to create a "freeze frame" type effect...the video will play, then it will freeze on a designated frame for 5 seconds or so, then resume playing from the next frame again.
I have VirtualDub, VirtualDubMod and Avisynth and I figure there HAS to be an easier and less time consuming way to do this than my current method...
My current method is to write down all the frame numbers of the stills I want, cut the video into a bunch of pieces, take a snapshot of the frame I want, add it onto the end of the first segment for 5 seconds, then add on the next segment and the next snapshot at the end of that segment and so on. But with a 20 minute video and 30+ times that I need to freeze the frame, this method would take hours and would get very confusing very quickly, I'm sure.
So is there an easier way to do this? I googled around and didn't find much...at least not with Vdub (which is all I've got).
Thanks for any help.

So you don't care about audio synch?
AviSynth's Loop command will hold a single frame as long as you like:
