    Hi,

I am using a Konka-9102 portable TV stick to record DVB-T in my country (specifically with Presto PVR! version 5). It records to a .MPG file. According to MediaInfo these are the file details:

    Container and general information:
    MPEG-TS" 326 MiB, 16mn 31s
    1 video stream: AVC
    1 audio stream: AAC
    First video stream
    720*576 (4:3), at 25.000 fps, AVC (Component) (Main@L3.0) (CABAC / 4 Ref Frames)
    First audio stream
    AAC

When trying to play it in any media player (windows, mpchc, vlc), the video is fine but there is no audio.
My goal is to edit the commercials out eventually and convert it to avi or mkv. I found that i can edit the file with TSSniper and h264ts_cutter but these applications does not recognize the sound either.

I need your help and suggestions please since i am breaking my head over this issue, how can i extract/play the audio on these files?

    Many thanks in advance.

  2. what kind of aac audio specifically? use mediainfo in text mode (view=>text)

latm/loas aac are not decoder properly, and require a workaround

do you have ffdshow installed, and aac enabled in the configuration?

is the extension .mpeg or .ts or .m2ts ? mediainfo says it's mpeg-ts, which suggests a transport stream. What happens if you rename extension to .ts or .m2ts? What happens if you re-wrap with tsmuxer?

please post the mediainfo text mode information

This is the audio part from text mode, nothing specific about the codec:
    Audio
    ID : 2594 (0xA22)
    Menu ID : 2 (0x2)
    Format : AAC
    Format/Info : Advanced Audio Codec
    Duration : 16mn 30s
    Video delay : -548ms

I have ffdshow installed as part of the Combined Community Codec Pack. Inside the configuration, under Codecs enabled AAC is enabled as libfaad2.

  4. I edited my post above, can you re-read it and answer the questions regarding the extension (ie. .mpg vs. .ts)

The extension is mpg, nothing changes if i rename it to ts. I will see what tsmuxer can do with it.

  6. When you say nothing changes, do you mean no audio in mpc, or vlc ?

I think the problem is most mpeg-ps splitters (what is used if you have .mpeg), do not handle aac audio in mpeg program stream. MPEG-TS (transport stream) can handle aac, and is more common

You can also try re-wrapping with mkvtoolnix

And another option would be to demultiplex with DGAVCIndex into elementary streams, then rewrap with tsmuxer

Thanks for the quick replies, i really appreciate it.

Yes, no change meant still no audio.

I tried tsmuxer, when i added the file as mpg it said some tracks not recognized. This tracks was ignored, no tracks were showing. I changed the file name to ts and tried that again: I got the same error message but then only the video track appeared under the tracks section. Started remuxing anyway and of course got only video.

I will try the other tools you mentioned.

    poisondeathray:

Mkvtoolnix says the transport stream file type is not supported either.

DGAVCIndex can read the file just fine, again without audio. However it does recognize an audio track as AAC LATM/LOAS which you mentioned requires a workaround, can you give me info about that workaround please?

  9. Yes, the nasty workaround is use winamp to decode that demuxed stream and encode to .wav, then import that into your editor

These streams have been broadcast in other countries for a couple years now (new zealand) , and there is still very few software that can properly handle them

EDIT : sorry, you're probably not familiar with dgavcindex or avisynth, you have to use file=>save project to demux the audio (or audio=>audio demux) . This tool is meant to frameserve video through avisynth
