I have a bunch of softsubbed MKVs that I need to convert to be playable on my PS3. The thing is, regardless of how I convert these MKVs, they will end up on a DVD in some way shape or form. Therefore if the simplest thing to do is to convert them to a regular DVD video, that will work just fine. My first attempt was with DVDFlick. I extracted the subs (.srt) from the mkvs and then whe I tried adding these subs in DVDFlick it said they were corrupted. So I opened the .srt files in Subtitle Workshop. I kept getting an error that said "some of the streams of the movie could not be rendered correctly. Probably the audio or video codec is missing." These mkvs do play fine in VLC btw. The .srt files loaded anyway and I saved them again, thus filtering them through Subtitle Workshop. After this DVDFlick accepted them and I made the DVD ISO. However when I played the video the sound was waaay out of sync. Actually what happens is the video freezes at the very beginning and thus the video ends up being behind the audio track.

So why isn't DVD Flick working, and other than this what's my best option for being able to watch these on my PS3?

Here's the MediaInfo log of one of the MKVs:

Convertxtodvd didn't like the x264 streams.

I used avstodvd and it did the job successfully, but it took over 3 hours to do 1 DVD (and could only fit 8 episodes, although that's the nature of DVD, not a problem with the program itself.)

Is there any better solution to making these videos playable on PS3?

The AVCHD format allows for standard definition video. I would try using Multi-AVCHD to create an AVCHD structure for burning onto a DVD blank. This should preserve your soft subs, give you menus, and if your video and audio is AVCHD compliant, do so without re-encoding, which will be quicker than creating DVDs.
