Being the cheapskate I am, I've found 15 old printable DVDs being offered for $2. They have a super glossy surface, white all the way to the hub but the gloss stops just past the inner edge of where the recordable area is.
The seller let me take one home to inspect. DVD Identifier tells me they're Princo with a max recording speed of 2x, nothing more. I've a few things I'd like to have glossy print on, and have time to wait around for slow burns.
I suppose I could just try printing it and see what happens, but where's the fun in that? What does happen when attempting to print on thermal transfer discs with an inkjet?
15 DVDs for $2 ain't too bad a price even if they are only 2x speed. I've been getting 10 packs of 16x Memorex matt finish inkjet printables (with 'free' marking pen) for $3.97 at a local discount store. Anyone want an unused little black marker?
