  3. I have SP3 on 2 boxes. One has quartz.dll that support MJPEG, one does not. Is it a matter of WMP version or DirectX version?

    Q. My content needs an MJPG (MJPEG) decoder. Where can I get one?A. If your digital camera produces MJPEG .avi files, install Microsoft DirectX 9.0, which includes an MJPEG decoder. To install DirectX 9.0, see DirectX Download.
From the Microsoft Windows Media site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/faq/codec.mspx

Note: this is a decoder, not an encoder.

Honestly, these MJPEG codecs are all awful. The only good one is from Matrox.
