    Real newbie question I suppose.

I would like to know how I can change 235:1 to 16:9 resolution of AVC and AVI files. My TV can do it, but it just makes the picture higher and thus change the whole look of the picture.

I was wondering if there is a program that will change the aspect ration by cropping the movie at the sides.

    Thanks, Baldrick.

This brings me to next related newbie question:

A 235:1 is 1280x544. What do I crop it to while hopefully keeping the HD quality of the picture?

I'll do the job with TMPGEnc Express.

You should start with a 1920x1080 source and chop down to 1280x720p.

If you start with 1280x720p, you would need to upscale vertical and horizontal which would lower picture quality.
