Hi;
I am using x64 Vegas pro 9.0e. It's in the middle of an all-night render right now, but I will try the x64 huffyuv tomorrow!
If it works as expected, will I see something obviously huffyuv in the custom settings for the video for windows render dialogs?
It is tricky to get the right blend of decimation and motion blur when using high levels of time-compression. My goal is to compress 8 hours into about 7 minutes, which = ~ 70:1. But, if I just decimate at 70:1, the result is too jumpy. Doing two passes with Vegas (pass 1 at 12:1, pass 2 to get to 70:1) gives a smooth result, but the objects beside the road are just long blurred streaks. I need to find a nice blend of both blur and decimation.
Tonight I've been experimenting with decimating first (about 40:1) and then using Vegas time-compression (which induces motion-blur). However, because of the high decimation value, the blur is acting on frames that are very different from each other, and looks strange. After tonight's render is complete, I'll try using Vegas on the first pass, about 2:1, to get some blur, and then decimate.
I got the idea to do this from a YouTube buddy, he did a nice time lapse of a drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks, using the same camera as me:

He used Adobe Premier, and the effect was very nice. But, I'm trying a much more ambitious amount of compression, and without Premier.
