  1. On trying to play a DVD with VLC I get this error message:

    "Your input can't be opened:
    VLC is unable to open the MRL 'dvd://D:\VIDEO_TS\V'. Check the log for details."

    I've searched and consulted Help at
    http://wiki.videolan.org/Documentation:VLC_for_dummies
    but so far I've not located this log. Where is it located please?

    On the assumption that it has an extension '.log', I tried searching my entire PC but there's no relevant file amongst the 1200 results.

    If vlc 1.0+, in VLC under Tools->Messages set the Verbosity Level to 2. Then open the file and you will see the errors under Tools->Messages.

    For older versions of VLC search for vlc-log.txt
