Distorted sound wth FRAPS

Because no one could help me.

Every time I try to record game play the sound is distorted. An example is below, I apologize for your ear drums.

It was suggested that I alter the volume of Stereo Mix, however, I can not alter it. For some reason I can only mute it. Even from Windows sound manager.



This distortion occurs even with hardware acceleration set to none and sample rate converter lowered. I have uninstalled and installed codec packs only to find the same distortion.

I have run out of options here. I have no clue how to diagnose and correct this problem. Can anyone help me?
