I'm trying to "create IFOs" for a group of VOB files, and I get an error, "Could not find any VOB unit in VOB file(s)." I don't understand the problem, and could use some help, at least understanding the error message, if not fixing the ultimate problem. THANKS.

The VOBs in the group are of 2 different kinds:
    (A) generated w DVD-Shrink, by trimming down to individual short clips, with each clip generated as its own little movie. Each movie-let played fine. I then took the VOB files out of their indiv. folders, put them all in one main folder, and tried to create new IFOs.
    (B) generated in a similar way, using .mp2 clips captured from VHS in ULEAD Video Studio as a source, and using that tool to generate a DVD-Video fileset, as in (A), with the VOBs moved to the same main folder.

(BTW, I tried joining all the VOBs with VOBedit, and generating IFOs. That worked, except that (A) files have AC3 audio, and (B) files have PCM-Audio, whatever that means (seen in VOBedit), and the audio in those clips gets lost.)
Yes, I got that once before too. You need to rename the vob files to VTS_01_1.vob and up for it to work. That should fix it, good luck.
The one time I got what you got, was when I didn't have the vobs numbered correctly. If you mess up after 3, it only does the movie to vob 3. You need to rename them all VTS_01_001.vob, VTS_01_002.vob, . . .VTS_01_009.vob, VTS_01_010.vob. I don't know if that was the problem or not, hope it helps. I used that method by joshua for the complete Goofy cartoon series, took 4 discs with about 13 episodes a disc. But also works with movies as I joined one movie and a short video after it too. Just follow his directions.

Irregardless of the answer above...a possible solution to your problem is to
    use IFOEdit.

You don't need the VIDEO_TS.VOB file either.

Go to the folder where you ripped the movie, move any ifo and bup files that
may be there (in case you need them later)

Just fire up IFOEdit, click on Create IFOs.

    Check Create 1 PGC only,

Check Create Chapter for each Cell.

Output Stream - 1st VOB of Title-Set browse to the folder where you ripped
the move and select the first VOB file,

    Check Same as source

Click OK. A window will pop up that says Processing source XXX and [%] and
shows that IFOEdit is reading the source file...

click and drag that window to the bottom of the screen so that you just see
the top title bar - Processing source XXX and [%] It will run much faster
    that way.

Once that is complete, you will have new ifo and bup files. You should now
be able to process the files with whatever you are using (I use DVD2One)

Now, I can't remember for sure, but if you are having problems with the
steps above, you might have to rename the vob files from VTS_0X_1.VOB to
VTS_01_1.VOB (then 02, 03, 04 and so on) if that first VOB file does not
    start out at 01.

    Try it without renaming first.

Once you have the files created, test it in your software player on your PC
and if it looks good to go, process and burn (you might want to use a RW
disk) test in your set top player. If all goes well, then you can burn to a
    DVD R.

Screen Captures of this process is here http://www.sirscrub.com/lotr.htm
scroll half way down to the section called Creating New IFO Files.

One thing you need to be aware of is that the newly created ifo files will
not have any information in them concerning the audio streams or subtitles
(it will show up as unspecified, so you can look at the original IFO file to
get that information and add it to the new ifo file if you want to, or not,
it does not really matter just so long as you know what options to check
    when you process the files.)
    Thanks.

Ifoedit can only create files for one VTS and that VTS must be named VTS_01 . You'll have to do each VTS individually and then re-author.
