  1. So I know there are many guides to burn to DVD5 and DVD9 a Blu-Ray rip BUT all of them say I cannot use a standard DVD player to play the resulting burned DVD. So my question is this - is it possible to burn a 1:1 copy of a Blu-Ray rip without losing any quality in the audio or video, burn it to a DVD5 or 9 and have it playable in any set top standard DVD player?

thanks for your help on this

Rip the blu-ray with anydvdhd or dvdfab decrypter and convert it to a standard dvd using ConvertXtoDVD. And no, I don't know any guide for just that.

Or just buy the movie on dvd instead. .

Closest would be splitting a Blu-Ray into about 4 or five DVDR dual layer.

Or about 6-10 DVDR single layer.

Maybe save you a single layer or even a DL.

Look these Blu-Rays have been compressed down 20-30x from the camera masters. They are already at limit. If you compress further*, quality drops like a turd from an airliner bilge pump.

From your first post, you want the movie playable in any standard dvd player, therefore, the files must be in dvd format.

Do Remember that DVD is standard definition and Blu-Ray is High Definition, there will always be a significant quality difference after conversion whatever method you use.

    Blu-Rays support resolutions of 1920 x 1080 pixels while dvd's are limited at 720 x 576 pixels for PAL or 720 x 480 pixels for NTSC.
