I have a few MPEG-2 files that are very important to me, and I'm in the process of converting them to MP4 (via Handbrake).

Before I can delete the original MPEG files, I need to be sure the new files are free from errors (e.g. image brake-up, audio-pops, unstable playback etc.).

So is there a MP4/MKV error checker that I can download to check for any encoding errors?

    Thanks

Data storage of all types are cheap. Don't delete the original....simple as that.

If they are very important keep the originals!

But I haven't seen any encoding checker tool for any video format. You have to play it and check manually.

Forgot to ask, are there converters that can convert 50/60i to 50/60p instead of 25/30p?

  6. You just have to bob the video, instead of deinterlacing it. AviSynth is the way to go for bobbing because it has all kinds of bobbers available, from good and fast to very good and very slow. Most formats, I suppose (not DVD video, though), can be encoded at 60fps.
