I have some video 8 tapes that have been recorded on long play and short play using a recorder that is capable of long and short play. The recorded has since died and the tapes were transfered to my computer using a recorder that is only capable of short play. I am trying find out how to convert the long play to short play.

When played in short-play mode, the long-play video will appear speeded up (normally by a factor of around 2). I suggest that you play the long-play video in VLC player and adjust the playback speed until it looks about right. If you only want to play the video on your computer, then just continue to use VLC player with the required adjustment.

If you want to convert the video for playback on a DVD player etc. then look into the AssumeFPS() function (and similar) in AVISynth.
