    i need to play

    i) a hd file straight from pc and capture onto a blu-ray disc
ii) an sd avi file straight from pc and capture onto a blu-ray disc

does anyone know if such a blu ray dvd recorder exists yet?

and if it it did, would i need to buy a bit of hardware to convert files first?

It would be possible with a graphics card tvout/svideo/composite/hdmi/dvi connected to the recorder.

But NOT if you mean like from the files directly.

our BlackMagic Intensity Pro card has both HDMI and RGB component
    HD outputs.

So then presumably if i had a BluRay recorder, all yi'd have to do is hit
play on the BlackMagic computer and record on the BluRay and that's it?

im not even sure having said that that theres a recorder with a hdmi input you see
