DVP5992/37 will not power after flash upgrade

Tried Philips upgrade on USB. It recognized file and I started upgrade. After 20 minutes Upgrade was still on screen. I waited 10 more minutes and same so I tried various remote buttons and power button on unit but unit still showed Upgrade on TV screen. Finally unplugged unit and now it will not even power on. Any suggestions?

After 30 minutes and no response from front panel or remote what else to do? A 1.3 mb update should be on more than a few minutes. Anybody got any ideas on what to do?

Contact Philips?? Maybe read their upgrade page to see what they say about a bad upgrade?
I have read posts on this site re: the making of a device to re-flash a player
that was not properly properly upgraded.
You might want to Google your problem as I have seen this problem asked and answered before.

First you should have used quality media (CDR, DVD, UFD) / device (IDE/SATA to USB/1394). I assume you did not based on your impatience which is likely also cheapness. Second it would have been better to walk away for a while. Watching neither accelerates- nor decelerates the process :P

I am not aware of a JTAG solution for bricked DVPs

Unless you really and truly need something that a firmware upgrade offers you, it's really better to not do them at all. It's difficult to say whether your upgrade simply failed (it can happen, although it is rare) or you didn't wait long enough, but I have seen upgrades on some players take 30 minutes to complete.

If you can't get it to power on there is no hope for a home repair. You'll have to either pay Philips to fix it or buy a new player. A new player would probably be cheaper.
