Hi everyone, I have this strange set up in winamp that I cannot seem to figure out. I have a folder of music mp3s. There contains 151 songs in this folder. In Winamp, I ADD, then ADD DIRECTORY and select this folder to input all 151 songs. Winamp automatically alphabetizes the artists for me from "A" to "Z".

Here is what is strange. This folder of 151 songs is on my external hard drive. When I ADD and ADD DIRECTORY and select the folder (located on my external), it will alphabetize the artists names A thru Z, but after Z, there is a bunch of artists J. Also, artist E is inserted between some artist W. Clearly, this is out of sync.

    example by Winamp Playlist
    1) Artist A
    11) Artist C
    126) Artist T
    129) Artist W
    133) Artist E ?
    134) Artist E ?
    135) Artist W
    143 - 151) Artist J

I drag the exact folder, copy and paste to my desktop. Then I launch Winamp again, and I ADD and ADD DIRECTORY and this time, select the folder that was just dragged from my external to my desktop. No changes to titles or artists or anything.

example by Winamp playlist this time around
    1) Artist A
    11) Artist C
    142 - 151) Artist W

Seems good now. I cannot figure out why. I did not change anything. For some reason, when it is loaded from my exetrnal hard drive, something funny happens. Anyone know what might be the issue?

ok, I checked all properties and all my songs are labeled the same. Still cannot figure out why the songs imported from the externa HD show up the way they do.

Try viewing the folder in Explorer, and sort by different things like 'Date Modified' 'Name' 'Size', etc. Any of those lists match the WinAmp playlist?

yah they do match. The titles and artist names are all correct. No spaces or anything that would throw it off. Something in the external is reading it funny.

I meant you should check the sorting order of the files and see if one of the Windows sorts match the playlist.
