Ok, I admit that I do download movies. I live in France and my French isn't good enough to understand the dialogue in French cinema, so I use a file sharing site. I want to burn a movie to disc but the format is MKv and it's blue ray. I used AVCHD Coder and used image burn but my Dvd player wouldn't play it "said bad disc" Have I done this wrongly, or missed something out?

A mkv is not any blu-ray so this is not any ripping at all. And a blu-ray/avchd wont work on a standard dvd player. Just rent/buy the movies on DVD instead. Problem solved.
