    virtualdub xvid standalone and high quality?

    could anybody please tell wich settings i've to edit in xvid mpeg 4 codec, if i want high quality and make the avi file compatible for standalone players? basicly im doing dvd to avi..

    You use staxrip for dvd to xvid avi conversions... and use a high quality profile. .

    Start with the Home or Advanced Simple @ L4 profiles. That will limit bitrate peaks. Don't use GMC or QPel. No more that 2 B frames. Most recent Divx/DVD players should be able to handle that.

    Note that the bitrate caps only work in 2-pass (or more) VBR mode. Divx, on the other hand, obeys the bitrate caps in single pass constant quality mode.

    oke thanks all. i prefer to use virtualdub as i want to convert a hd .wmv to standalone high quality for now.
    staxrip and autogk works excellent for dvd convertsations
    so for the virtualdub the settings would be @as4 profile. ill look into it.
