can I edit my avchd files this way

I have a Sony HD camcorder.

I have all my avchd files dumped to the pc.

What I would like to do is the following.

Take files from different days.
Let's say I have 10 files from Xmas 2009.
I would like to trim any excess from the files if necessary.
Then join together as one avchd file but have chapter access to the 10 separate areas.
I do not want to have any quality loss through re-encoding so I just want to simply join the files...with transitions if possible.

Now, can I do this and still have chapters?

Now I would like to do this for all groups and just leave them like that for viewing on the pc.
I would also like to take various groups and burn to bluray with the option to select any group from a menu and still have the chapter access while playing.

All without and re-encoding quality loss.

Just want to make sure I can even do this....I have had the camera for about a year but have yet to try to edit anything. Got about 200 files to work through.
Right now I have Adobe Premiere Elements 7 that I bought last year some time but if I have to get something else that is not an issue.

AVCHD is a processing hog, and if you're computer is more than 3 years old, it might not be able to handle it. (Your "Computer Details" stats don't look too promising.)

The latest version of Sony Vegas may work. Even the latest version of Premiere Elements may do the job for you. You just have to make sure your PC is powerful enough for AVCHD.

Disregard my pc stats....I can't even remember when I built that thing. I'll have to update that one day

I have plenty of processing power.
Gonna spend some time going through all the videos...making notes of what is there, what needs edited or discarded. Then I will start screwing around with the software.
Was just trying to confirm what I want can be done....I know it's nothing super elaborate wanted to be sure.

You'll minimally want to use Vegas Movie Studio Platinum as it has Blu Ray creation and burning capabilities.

For editing and cutting try tssniper and tsmuxer,no need to encode.For avchd creation use multiavchd and for burning imgburn.
