    Hi All,

I would like to buy a tuner card for my PC to give me the ability to watch & record live TV, My question is I currently stream all of my movies to my PS3, they are all either divx or xvid. Is it possible to record the TV shows through the tuner card to either divx or xvid?

Seeing that all of my other media is in this format I really do not want to start converting recordings I have made from one format to another,

Hopefully someone can offer some advice

    Many thanks

    Richard

Most digital tuners don't do this because they simply grab the digital stream as-is and put it on the HDD. This avoids quality loss and uses very few system resources.

I can't say how good these are but they can be configured to record to divx

The Hauppauge HD-PVR converts in hardware to h.264.

For SD, Black Magic has an h.264 recorder
