    hi all.got a samsung 22x ext writer and it has started to write slow.it starts out burning at the 12x for the first burn,then all the rest burn at 8x even when i select 12x.it is brand new and i am using verbs + and -
    the usb2 are working fine and am using nero7 which seems to be fine,any suggestions?
    i am using xp on a dell d620.
    the firmware is also the latest.its a samsung se-s224q

    try using IMGBURN to burn your dvd media. It's freeware and that Nero you have is considered crappy.

    common for usb external dvd burners not able to burn beyond 8x....usb is cpu intensive.

    ok,wil try imgburn.downgraded the firmware and it SEEMS to be working so far....fingers crossed.
