On my new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium and having K-Lite Codec Pack 5.6.1 (full) installed, the subtitles (.srt) are always about 0.3s too early. On my old computer they are perfectly in sync. Of course I can easily adjust the subs with either SubtitleWorkshop (Ctrl-d, +0.3s) or with VobSub 2.23 but I wonder why this happens. (Couldn't find anything on Google or in these forums).

VobSub 2.23 is pretty outdated, and possibly doesn't work well under Windows 7.

And you shouldn't have run a full install of K-Lite, to begin with.

Give a try to DirectVobSub 2.33 or 2.37, or ffdshow's subtitle filter.

So, what would you recommend? Uninstall K-Lite Codec pack and install what instead?

"All I want to do" is watch normal video files (mostly .avi, .mkv, .mp4 containers with the usual XviD, AVC, H264). I also like Media Player Classic and I love VirtualDub.

Any recommendation as to what codec (pack) to install without cluttering my system?
