I am new to this but sorta seeing how to do things. I got a DVD-A rip. that's been shrunk n put into a iso. which is supposed to fit on a cd via a SACD type DTS dillio. and have had no real issues until i came across a few. they dont seem to be recognized as a disc but a data disc in my dvd player. Samsung DVD-9700. now i got this player cause it handles divx n vidx .avi codec'd files. which i like to compact n save the value of my bought collection. n like converting vinyl to mp3 to save the value of product.

wondering a way to convert this dvd iso which fits onto a cd. and to convert it into 5.1 ac3 wav files. so i can burn it like a normal cd but still is a dts sacd.

another one my friend accidently ripped into was a wv and an ape format. i've tried to convert them for him. and it converts them and puts them into two channel wavs or mp3's. i am on a mac but hav win xp on here too.

thanks. and this site is great for audio / video engineers.

dvd-audio, dts, and sacd are all different audio formats. you say the original was dvd-audio but if it was shrunk then some other audio or data compression was used.

if you want it to end up a 5.1 ac3 file then you need to rip the dvd audio to 6 mono .wav files and encode them to dolby digital 5.1 with the highest bitrate setting it will allow. you will still lose quality..but if ac3 is your desired destination that's a loss you'll have to accept.

if you want to try to retain the quality you would rip to .flac and then try to find something that will play it back on your surround sound system.

You can encode DTS at 44.1kHz and put it in a wav wrapper and burn it to CD for playback through a digital DTS decoding amplifier. It should look like a regular audio CD to your player, but will produce only pink noise through a standard audio CD player. Surcode is usually recommended for the encoding process.

look up besweet , be a few years, but it sounds like your solution, you just need to be responsibile for getting the DTS track to your HD.
